To set up a scale in LS Central

  1. Open the LS Hardware Station Management Portal in a browser (default location is localhost:8088), and log in.
  2. Expand the Scales tab in the Device List, and click Create Scale.
  3. In the pop-up window either use the default device ID or set your own for the device and select the OPOS driver for the scale.
  4. Click Create device, and then select it from the device list, and click Load.
  5. Open LS Central BackOffice, and open the POS Hardware Profile List.
  6. Select the hardware profile that the scale should be added to.
  7. Click Manage - Edit, and on the POS Hardware Profile Card click the Detect Hardware action.
  8. The scale device that was configured in previous steps is now attached to the hardware profile.
Tip: Scroll down the POS Hardware Profile List page to view the list for verification.

To attach an existing scale to a hardware profile

  1. Go to the POS Scale List. Here you can see all scale devices that have been detected by the LS Hardware Station or been added manually. All configurations that apply to the scale device are available in this card.
  2. To attach an existing scale device to a new Hardware Profile, go to the POS Hardware Profile Card, and make sure that the card is in edit mode before starting.
  3. Scroll down to the POS Scale Devices FastTab, and select the Scale Device ID from the list.

Note: In the LS Hardware Station Management Portal you can test the connection to the scale by using the test functions in the Tools menu (on the right, when a device has been selected).
The Weigh item and calculate price test function asks the scale which functionality is supported in the scale. Once the weighing has finished, a message is displayed in the Management Portal with the results, so for example, if a scale that does not support calculating the price of the weighed item, the message in the Management Portal will display the weight and sales price as 0, even if a unit price was entered in the dialog box before the test weighing starts.
The same goes for the tare calculations: if they are not supported, the entered tare weight is not subtracted. Click here for a more detailed description on how to use these test functions.
